It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Rob McElhenney will become the latest Jimmy Kimmel Live! guest host. The actor takes over for the late-night TV host, who is on summer vacation.
McElhenney joins a list of 2022 guest hosts that includes Chelsea Handler, Sean Hayes, Dana Carvey, and Anthony Anderson. It will be the Mythic Quest creator’s first time filling in for Kimmel.
As most fans know, Jimmy Kimmel now takes an annual summer vacation. It’s been worked into his ABC contract that he gets the summer months off while a rotating list of guest hosts fills in.
It’s Always Sunny fans know that Rob McElhenney has no problem writing and delivering jokes. While hosting a late-night TV show is very different than a sitcom, it shouldn’t be too tricky for McElhenney to make the transition. His recent run as a podcast co-host could also help.
First up, he’ll chat with Kumail Nanjiani. The Eternals star is on to promote his new Hulu series, Welcome to Chippendales.
Then, he’ll be joined by actress Charlotte Nicdao. She stars alongside McElhenney in Mythic Quest, which is expected to return for season 3 on Apple TV+ later this year.
Tonight’s musical guest is Trombone Shorty. His album Lifted was released earlier this year.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! with guest host Rob McElhenney airs at 11:35 p.m. ET. on ABC.
