NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia star Glenn Howerton has recalled the most frightening moment of his life.
The actor, 45, has spoken out about a ‘terrifying’ experience he had some years ago – and is still not quite sure what to make of it.
Glenn, along with Always Sunny co-stars Charlie Day and Rob McElhenney, were discussing spiritual visions and the paranormal on the new episode of The Always Sunny Podcast, when he told his story.
Charlie asked Rob and Glenn if they ‘ever had any visions, like ghosts or anything of the spiritual realm,’ to which Glenn instantly remembered he ‘had a really crazy experience… that scared me beyond belief’.
At the time, Glenn was living in an old apartment building in New York, which has since been demolished, and was asleep in bed when he was visited by something he still doesn’t understand.
‘I was asleep, but in my dream I could see myself in my bed, asleep, and there was a dark, amorphous thing floating through the air, into my room.
‘I watched it but I couldn’t – I was trying to wake up, because I knew I was asleep but I couldn’t wake up.
‘I was frozen,’ he said. ‘It was one of those things where you’re like paralysed in your sleep.’
The AP Bio actor added that, as the figure got closer it was emanating a loud, terrifying humming noise, which he duly imitated on the podcast.
He continued: ‘It was freaky as f**k. It was hovering directly over me, like this dark, dark energy, whatever the f**k it was.
‘And I remember I was finally able to open my eyes, and when I opened my eyes it was still there… and then the sound dissipated and then it went away.
‘But when I f**king opened my eyes it was still there. ‘
Glenn admitted that it ‘was probably all in my head, but it was the scariest thing that I’ve ever experienced in my entire life.’
But while the actor was clearly still shocked and a little scared just by retelling the story, he was laughing seconds later as Charlie and Rob suggested he may have been visited by The Nightman.

The discussion on spiritual visions came as the actors spoke about the season two Always Sunny episode The Gang Exploits A Miracle, where a water stain appears in the bar looking vaguely like The Virgin Mary, and the gang try to make money out of it.
It features the very first appearance of David Horsnby as Fr Matthew Mara – best known as Rickety Cricket.
It’s Always Sunny is available to stream on Netflix UK.
